  • I've heard MPOWERD is a Certified B Corporation. What is that?

    To borrow from the B Corp website, we're what Fair Trade is to Coffee, or what USDA Organic is to Milk. In other words, Certified B Corps were born out of the idea that in the modern age, companies should care just as much about helping others as they do helping themselves.

    To prove we mean it, we're audited by the third-party B Lab, in which we have to meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. How are we doing? See for yourself.

    How do you make a difference?

    Since MPOWERD began in 2012, we've been focused on providing a real, immediate solution for the 1.5 billion people still living without access to electricity. We built a sustainable business model that allows us to provide lights to everyone, no matter where they live or how much they make, at a price they can actually afford. Simply put, we use high volume retail sales to lower costs, and pass those savings on. So the more we sell at home, the more we're able to give to those in need. To learn more, check out our story.

    How can I get involved?

    If you've bought from us before, you already are. Profits from every light sold go towards getting more lights to those that need them most.

    MPOWERD takes its IP seriously and is protective of its rights. The Luci line of products is patented in the U.S., China, and Taiwan, and is patent pending in other countries around the globe. MPOWERD is committed to producing the highest quality products while helping those without access to electricity. Look for the Luci logo to ensure that you are purchasing an original, high quality MPOWERD product.

  • How do I order?

    When you are on our website, click on the menu bar on the top of the page, and select Shop. Select the product you want to purchase, and Add To Cart. Then you may continue shopping or proceed to Checkout.

    Can I cancel or modify my order?

    We process and ship out orders as quickly as possible. If you purchased too many items or purchased the incorrect item(s) or if you’d like to cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible after placing your order. We can update orders within 24 hours of the online purchase. If you forgot to purchase an item, please place another order.

    I received my order, and an item is damaged.

    Oh no! We are so sorry to hear that. Please email us a photograph of the damaged item, a brief description with your order number and your first and last name to support@mpowerd.com. MPOWERD will determine the best resolution based on when the order was purchased and the description of damage. We may ask to have to product shipped back to us so we can see it in-person before making a decision.

    I just got my order and received the wrong item.

    This rarely ever happens, but we’re here for you when it does! Please email us a photograph of the incorrect item, a brief description with your order number and your first and last name to support@mpowerd.com. We will address this ASAP. Again, we will determine the best resolution based on when the order was purchased, the order details, and the customer claim.

    What kind of payment methods do you accept on your online store?

    We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Diners Club debit and credit cards, Amazon Pay, and PayPal.

    I don’t want to use my credit card on your online store. What are my options?

    We do not accept cash, checks, money orders, or wire payments. However, you can purchase using Amazon Pay and/or PayPal as an alternative online payment solution. You can learn more here: Amazon Pay or PayPal. Additionally, we have several retail partners who may sell in your area. To locate a store near you, please email us at support@mpowerd.com.

    How much does shipping cost?

    It depends on where you live or where you are shipping the order. Costs are calculated during checkout based on the shipping address, so you'll see the total shipping cost before you buy.

    How long does it take for my Luci light to arrive at my doorstep?

    It can take up to 2 business days for our shipping team to process, pack, and ship orders. Once shipped - depending on where you live - your order can take up to 2 weeks to be delivered.

    Can I track my order?

    Of course! You’ll get an email with the tracking number once it ships. You can track your order by logging into your account on our website. You can start tracking your order here. If you are having trouble logging in or  don’t get your email with the tracking number, please contact Customer Service at support@mpowerd.com and we’ll get back to you ASAP.  

    Can I order from outside the U.S.?

    You can order from anywhere in the world!

    I live outside the U.S., how do I know what the duties and taxes are?

    Duties and taxes are calculated based on the nature of our products and the country to which the product is being shipped. Customers pay for duties and taxes upon receipt of the product.

    Can I send them as gifts?

    Please do! Just make sure your shipping address and billing address are different.

    Can I track my order?

    Of course! You’ll get an email with the tracking number once it ships. If you don’t get your email, please contact Customer Service at support@mpowerd.com and we’ll get back to you ASAP.

    Are there discounts for large orders?

    Yes! Find out if you qualify by emailing sales@mpowerd.com.

    Is it possible to co-brand with Luci lights?

    What is the Give Luci Program?

    Our Give Luci Program allows you to make an impact when shopping with us. Thanks to people like you, we’ve sent lights to over 100 countries since we started in 2012, affecting over 2.6 million lives. Our nonprofit partners use Give Luci lights for life-saving search & rescue missions, disaster relief, improving community health and safety, education initiatives and families who live without access to electricity.     So you want to participate in our Give Luci Program? Great! You have two options:

    1. Get One/Give One: You purchase a Luci Candle, and a Luci EMRG is sent on your behalf to our non-profit partners. Our nonprofit partners deliver them to where they are needed most.
    2. Give: One Luci EMRG is sent on your behalf to our non-profit partners. You will not receive a light in the mail.

    Once you have decided on whether you want to Get One/Give One or Give, visit our website and click on Give on the menu bar on the top of the page or click here. Make sure before you add to cart, select the box option under Select A Way To Give.

    Are MPOWERD products available in stores?

    Oh yeah, big time. We're in over a thousand retailers in the US alone. If you're the type of person who goes to a website for info, but still loves the ol' brick & mortar, email support@mpowerd.com and we'll tell you where to find the closest store.

    Do you have a product warranty?

    Yep. All of our products have a one-year warranty for manufacturing-related issues from the date of receipt. The warranty policy is available in full here. Have a question about yours? Send an email to support@mpowerd.com.

    What is your return policy?

    If you bought a Luci light through our website, you can return it within 30 days of purchase, no questions asked, as long as it's unopened. If you bought at a store, you'll need to check their specific return policy. We also have a 1 year warranty in case you run into any issues with your light!     Can I recycle my Luci light?

    Yes! Just send an email to recycling@mpowerd.com and we'll fill you in.

    How does my Luci light work?

    Luci's solar panels charge via the red and violet frequencies of light emitted by the sun, which are then stored in its lithium battery until you're ready to use it. On a really bright and sunny day, your light should fully charge in 7-8 hours of direct sunlight. On overcast or rainy days, because there's so much less light of those frequencies that's able to get through the layer of cloud cover, it could take up to 20 hours (2-3 day’s time).

    It's that simple – everything you need to use (and reuse) a Luci light, you've got already. In fact, they're so hassle free, you don't need to worry about things like leaving it out too long or the light turning on by itself while charging! It’s a closed circuit system with a built-in surge protector.

    There’s not a cloud in the sky, and it’s been 7 hours, but the light still isn’t fully charged. What’s going on?

    There could be a couple of things going on. A sunny day doesn’t automatically guarantee a high UV index, so make sure to check the forecast. It’s also key to make sure you put the Luci in direct sunlight.

    How do I know I’m getting direct sunlight?

    Something gets direct sunlight when the rays literally hit the object. You get direct sunlight when you sit outside, without a hat, and there’s nothing between you and the sun. Your cat gets direct sunlight when she sits on the windowsill on that one bright patch. Check the indicator to be sure your light is fully charged.

    How do I read the charging indicator properly?

    Press the lightning bolt button opposite the power button. When all three dots in the middle of the two buttons are lit, your light is ready to go!

    When fully charged, how many hours of light does it give?

    A Luci can last up to 24 hours (and we've heard stories of it lasting longer!), but it really depends on the model and the brightness setting you're using. For more info, go the page of the Luci you bought and choose the tab marked “specs.” Visit the shop page.

    How long does the product last?

    If you fully charge and then use up the entire battery every day, you'll get about 1-2 years of use out of just one Luci. For the more occasional user, a Luci light can last up to 7 years!

    If I'm not using Luci all the time, how often should I recharge it?

    After you’ve used your light, and you don’t expect to be using it on a regular basis, there’s no harm in charging it all the way and then storing it away. A Luci light will retain 95% of its charge for each month it's in storage. In other words, if you were to stow it away on January 1, you'd still have more than half the charge come October!

    How bright is Luci

    Luci Outdoor 2.0, Original, Lux & Color will light up an area of 150 square feet (14 square meters).

    Our smaller lights, Luci EMRG, Candle and Spooky will do the same for 100 square feet (9 square meters).
     

    How long do the LED bulbs last?

    Good news! You'll never need to worry about replacing the bulbs – the LEDs will last for the entire lifespan of the light.

    Can it be used outside? What about in the water?

    Yep – we even recommend it! Because of their unique inflatable design, Luci lights are shatterproof, IP67 waterproof (it can go a full meter underwater) and they float! No need to worry about chlorine or salt, either. Pools, lakes, oceans, all are fair game.

    Can Luci lights work in all temperatures and climates?

    Luci lights still work at temps as cold as 15°F (-10°C) and as hot as 122°F (50°C). That being said, on hot summer days, definitely avoid leaving your Luci light on your car dashboard or concrete, as heat in contained spaces can make surfaces reach all the way to 160°F, aka “ouch this seat hurts my skin” degrees.

    During the warmer months, we’d recommend charging your Luci deflated, because heat expands things in weird ways. We want to keep your Luci looking as fresh as the day you bought it.

    Is there any risk of electric shock or burns from a Luci light?

    Nope. Everything's sealed safely within. Unlike candles or traditional bulbs, Luci doesn't give off heat.

    I can't seem to inflate the Luci. What am I missing?

    First, check the handy icons on the inside packaging. Still having trouble? It's like a beach ball, so make sure you're pinching the two-way leak proof valve with your fingers or teeth while blowing into it. To deflate, pinch the valve again while compressing the Luci – this lets the air escape.

    I'm having trouble charging or using my light. What should I do?

    First, make sure you're charging your light so that the solar panel faces direct sunlight. Depending on the strength of the sun and cloud conditions, a full charge can take anywhere from 7-20 hours! 

    We recommend charging your unit outside in the sunniest place you can find. This will give your Luci the most exposure to the sun and make it charge the fastest!

    If you choose to charge your light in the windowsill, remember that the sun moves throughout the day, so you’ll have to move Luci to keep the panel in direct sunlight. If you're still having trouble, check the user manual, and as always, you can contact Customer Support.
